The activity of Douros family in the area of clothing fashion started in 1960, when its founder Nikos Douros started dealing in cotton items.
In 1971, the company took the corporate form it has today.
In the 1970s, DUR starts its major exporting activities.
The company’s profile abroad is reinforced during the 1980’s and 1990’s as it participates in major international clothing exhibitions such as SEHM Paris, (Salon International de l’Habillement Masculin), Koelnmesse in Germany and Pitti Umo in Italy.
During the 1990s, efforts began creating a chainstore of shops under the label DUR Escape Land which proved to be a very successful venture as it did not affect its wholesale network which put the brand DUR on the map.
Larger investments were made easier as a result of the company being listed on the Athens stock exchange in August 2000. DOUROS S.A. set even stronger foundations to strengthen its own strong retail network.
The company’s 2nd generation, Theodore N. Douros took over the company from the position of CEO in 2010 by developing ambitious plans for the company’s growth.
